Asari Now on Ijaw Interest: Criticises Tinubu’s ‘lopsided’ Appointments

Alhaji Asari Dokubo, a prominent figure in the Kalabari Kingdom,
Who formerly declared that he and his gang of militants are working for President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress. has now raised concerns about the ministerial appointments made by the same President he worked for.

He expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, "We, the Ijaws, contribute 60% of Nigeria's oil production, yet we've been given a minister of state." Asari Dokubo highlighted what he perceives as a one-sided approach in Tinubu's appointments, particularly favoring the Southwest.

In a Facebook video, Asari emphasized his identity as an Ijaw and mentioned that 96% of Nigeria's oil exports originate from the Ijaw region, significantly contributing to the nation's oil production. Despite this, he pointed out that no Ijaw individuals were appointed as ministers, shedding light on the disparity in representation in the ministerial positions.

According to him, "Wherever you see injustice, call me, and I will be there. Some people say I'm practicing Takiyah (righteousness) because I said the appointments Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making are one-sided. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is treading on a very dangerous path, and if he doesn't correct it by changing some of his appointments, we, his hardcore supporters, will not be able to stand with him. Never before in this country have the people of the Ijaw had a minister. I was an Ijaw man before I became a supporter of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is the first time in this country, both in the Buhari government and in this administration, that there is no Ijaw minister, despite the disproportionate contribution of the Ijaw to the development of this country. Ninety-six percent of Nigerian oil is exported from Ijaw territory; 100% of the Nigerian oil pipeline passes through Ijaw; and we produce 60% of Nigerian oil. What you gave us is a minister of state in a sector where we contribute disproportionately, and you expect me not to say anything because I'm your friend and I shouldn't say anything."
