Gbekebor Community to Celebrate Ijaw Culture with Pelekoro-Bị Festival, March 15-20

Burutu, Delta State: Gbekebor Community, nestled within the historic Ogbolubiri-Mein Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area, is set to host the much-anticipated Pelekoro-Bị Festival from March 15 to 20, 2025. This vibrant celebration promises to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ijaw people, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Warri, a prominent chief of the Ogbolubiri-Mein Kingdom, Comrade Frank Akiefa expressed excitement about the festival, emphasizing its significance in promoting Ijaw culture and unity. "The Pelekoro-Bị Festival is not just a celebration; it is a reaffirmation of our identity, our traditions, and our communal bonds," he stated.
The event which is themed; Love Boat, 2025 will Commence on the 15th of March with love boat/beach carnival & candle night. Day 2 which is march 16th will witness Pelekoro first outing and
other competitive activities. Day 3, march 17th Resting Day, Novelty Football Match, while day 4: march 18th Is for Pelekoro second outing/other competitive activities.
Day 5 March 19th resting day/
cultural display, Day 6, march 20th: Pelekoro final outing and
other competitive activities.

Burutu L.G.A Delta State will be the chief host as John Ekpesebo will be Performing on the 15th, March 2025, while Chief Barrister Smooth will be Performing to supply Music to entertain guests on the 20th March.
