IDPD 2023: We Need Urgent Help, Persons with Disabilities Beg Govt, CSOs for Empowerment in Delta

Persons with disabilities under the platform of Empowerment For Global Disability Aid Initiative (EGDAI) yesterday, Appealed to the Delta State Government, Civil Society, Religious and business organizations to come to their rescue, stating that they need wheelchairs, crushes, and other walking aids.
They made the call on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, during the occasion to mark this year’s (2023) International Day for the People with Disabilities, theme: "United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities" at Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Africa for Peace Drive, Off Ugolo road Junction, near Osubi, Airport, Asubi.
the National President, Dr. Kenneth Edun appreciated all invited guess and their host, the National Coordinator, Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, Shola Mese Foundation, OAT Medical Foundation, (OMF) Foundation for Helpless Old People in African Sub-Region (FHOPAS) and others. He noted that people living with disabilities are facing challenges bordering on lack of access to public offices and others.
According to him, "World Disability Day, hosted by the United Nations encourages government and business leaders across the globe to value the unique contributions of disabled people to society. The NGO donated wheelchairs and crutches to some physically challenged persons in Delta State, stating that "The aim is to touch the lives of the physically challenged persons and include them in our various interventions".
Dr. Edun further said, "Those living with disabilities might resort to Begging, crawling on the floor helplessly due to lack of support from government and relevant agencies, We are begging the Delta State Government to create empowerment Programs to accommodate the needs of those living with various forms of disabilities".
"We are also using this opportunity to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life that will put an end to segregation, discrimination, and non-inclusivity experienced by persons living with disabilities (PWDs)".
