A prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Michael Johnny, has intensified support for the re-election bid of Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas ahead of the APC senatorial primary election scheduled for tomorrow.

Chief Johnny called on APC delegates and party faithful across the eight local government areas of Delta South Senatorial District to troop out in large numbers and vote massively for Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, popularly known as JOT, describing him as a unifying leader committed to peace, inclusion, and political stability in the region.

Speaking during a political consultation with party stakeholders, Chief Johnny said the outcome of the primary election would play a major role in shaping the future political direction of Delta South and maintaining harmony among the various ethnic nationalities in the district.

According to him, Delta South requires a detribalised and experienced leader capable of building bridges across ethnic and political lines rather than promoting division and tension.

He warned against what he described as divisive politics capable of weakening the collective strength and unity of the senatorial district.

“Delta South needs a leader who can unite the people beyond ethnic sentiments and political interests. Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has demonstrated that capacity through his inclusive style of leadership and commitment to fairness for all,” he stated.

Chief Johnny further noted that Senator JOT has continued to carry all ethnic groups and political interests along in his representation, adding that his leadership has encouraged peace, cooperation, and political inclusion across the district.

He disclosed that the Ijaw people have resolved to support Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas in the spirit of justice, equity, and political balance within Delta South.

“As Ijaw people, we have decided to stand firmly behind Senator Joel because this is the turn of the Isoko nation, and the Ijaw people believe strongly in truth, fairness, and justice,” Chief Johnny declared.

The APC chieftain also commended what he described as patriotic and fair-minded Itsekiri sons and daughters who continue to support peaceful coexistence and unity among the ethnic nationalities in Delta South.

He stressed that sustainable political progress in the district can only be achieved through mutual respect, fairness, and collective cooperation among the people.

Chief Johnny maintained that APC members across Delta South must remain united and focused during the primary election, insisting that Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas represents continuity, experience, stability, and inclusive leadership.

“Delta South is bigger than individual ambitions. This election is about protecting unity, ensuring stability, and securing a better future for our people. Senator JOT remains the best choice to continue delivering quality representation for all ethnic groups in Delta South,” he added.
