Tinubu, Jonathan Reacts as Defence, Environment Ministers, 8 Killed in Helicopter Crash

Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has condoled President John Mahama of Ghana over the air mishap that killed two ministers and six others.

A military helicopter crash in the Ashanti region claimed the lives of Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and other distinguished officers and citizens.

Ghana Armed Forces released the names of individuals who died in the crash yesterday, Wednesday as the Z-9 helicopter belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces, reportedly lost contact during a flight from Accra, to Obuasi gold- mining town in the south- where the crew headed for an official engagement.

Ghanaian President John Mahama described the incident as a national tragedy and suspended activities upon receiving the news.

He also directed that flags fly at half-mast to honour the memory of the victims.

3. Muniru Mohammed – Acting deputy, national security coordinator and former minister for food and agriculture

6.Peter Baafemi Anala – ⁠Squadron leader
7. ⁠Manaen Twum Ampadu – Flying officer
8. ⁠Ernest Addo – Sergeant

President Bola Tinubu condoled with the Ghanaian nation urging the bereaved families to find comfort in the knowledge that their loved ones died in the line of patriotic service to the country.
