Roland Ebipade Clark Decries ADC Chairman Delisting, Raises Concern Over Nigeria’s Democratic Space Ahead of 2027

The reported delisting of African Democratic Congress (ADC) Chairman, David Mark, has triggered widespread concern among political stakeholders, raising questions about the state of Nigeria’s democratic environment as the 2027 general elections approach.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Hon. Roland Ebipade Clark described the development as “a profound surprise and disappointment,” warning that it could signal an attempt to suppress a major opposition force. According to him, such actions risk undermining the progress of Nigeria’s democracy by creating the perception of a one-party system dominated by a single authority.

Clark referenced a recent world press conference held on April 2, 2026, where leading political figures—including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola—reaffirmed their commitment to democratic principles and pledged to proceed with party registration efforts and a national convention despite the challenges.

He expressed confidence that the collective experience of these leaders would help reposition Nigeria and address growing economic hardship and public dissatisfaction.

Addressing his constituents in Burutu Federal Constituency, Clark called for calm and peaceful conduct during this period of political uncertainty. He emphasized the importance of unity and resilience, drawing inspiration from the legacy of his late father, Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, a respected advocate for democracy and national development.

“As we approach 2027, meaningful change is not only necessary but inevitable,” Clark stated. “Nigerians deserve better representation, and by God’s grace, it shall be achieved.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values and extended goodwill to the nation, his party, and the people of Burutu Federal Constituency.
