The President of the Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC), Chief Amb. (Comrade) Bene Youkore Mamamu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who died on Thursday.

In a statement issued in Warri, Mamamu said he received with shock the news of Ewhrudjakpo’s death at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where he was rushed for urgent medical attention.

According to him, the Niger Delta Youth Council and the entire region have lost a committed leader whose contributions to the development and stability of the Niger Delta will not be forgotten.

“We received news of the demise of the deputy governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, with deep sorrow. The incident came as a profound shock to all of us, but we submit to the will of the Almighty God, who has chosen to call him home at this time,” Mamamu said

The NDYC President described Ewhrudjakpo's death as a great loss to Bayelsa, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria at large, noting that his life of public service left meaningful impact across communities.

He further extended condolences to the Bayelsa State Government, the family of the deceased, and all who were close to the late deputy governor.

“It is our sincere prayer that the Almighty God will strengthen the bereaved family and grant them the fortitude to bear this painful loss. The Niger Delta has lost a gem, but we take comfort in the legacy he leaves behind,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Mamamu also used the opportunity to issue a stern warning against the impersonation of NDYC leadership. He cautioned individuals and groups against parading themselves as President or representatives of the Niger Delta Youth Council without authorization.

“Anyone found impersonating the President or leadership of the Niger Delta Youth Council will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he warned.

Mamamu reaffirmed that the NDYC remains united and committed to protecting the integrity of the council and the interests of Niger Delta youths.
