OML42: Youths Partner Ministry to Train 120 Indigenes in Delta

Youths of Oil Mining Lease OML42 communities in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State have entered into partnership with the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development to train a minimum of 120 indigenes in various vocational skills programmes.
The pact was sealed on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, during a courtesy visit of a delegation of the OML42 Youth Forum led by its Chairman, Comrade Bakawei Mamamu, to the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac in Asaba.
The training aims at providing skills and knowledge necessary for personal and professional development, with the objective of fostering Entrepreneurship and Economic growth within the communities".
Briefing the commissioner earlier, Comrade Mamamu disclosed that "the OML-42 youths have concluded arrangements to commence skills acquisition and empowerment programmes targeted at reducing unemployment and overdependence on oil companies for employment".
He spoke further, "We are appealing to the Delta State Government through this Ministry to support the training of youths in area of catering, fashion designing, makeup and hair styling, furniture and craft making, information and communication technology, welding and fabrication, fish farming, tiles fittings, POP fittings, paint making and crane operation, among others.
"We need your support for the Forum to achieve its set goals of job creation through skill empowerment".
The Commissioner while endorsing the initiative commended the youths saying that "the present administration in the State will encourage youth development programmes to spread around every part of the state, in direct alignment with the M.O.R.E. agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori".
"This Ministry is for you, you are free to key into programmes and activities of this Ministry. We want to assure that whatever we are doing goes around to benefit all in their various Local Government Areas, especially the youths", the Commissioner further said.
