2027: Warri Federal Constituency lacks effective representation, Mulade Sheriff vows to challenge narrative

Chief Sheriff Mulade, the National Democratic Party candidate for the Warri Federal Constituency, has said the constituency has suffered from ineffective representation, vowing to challenge the narrative if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027.

Mulade stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Pere Couple Markson Oromoni Monbene III, the Pere Ama-Okosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, as part of his consultations with traditional rulers and other stakeholders ahead of the election.

The NDP candidate, who sought the monarch’s blessing and fatherly counsel, received royal prayers for his political aspiration.

Speaking at the palace, Mulade said the people of Warri Federal Constituency deserved stronger representation capable of speaking for their interests and addressing the challenges confronting them.

“Warri Federal Constituency lacks effective representation. Our people have no one to speak for the masses, no one to cry when we are in pain, no one to fight for our future. I have come to change that narrative,” he said.

He identified insecurity and crime as among the challenges requiring urgent attention, arguing that persistent insecurity could discourage economic activities and investment in the constituency.

Mulade said his aspiration under the NDP was also focused on creating opportunities for young people and building an environment where residents could pursue legitimate economic activities without fear.

“A vote for NDP is a vote to put an end to the crime crisis in Warri. We cannot build prosperity in the midst of fear. Our youths need jobs, not guns. Our mothers need peace, not tears,” he said.

Seven-point agenda

The aspirant also presented his proposed seven-point development agenda, which he said would guide his legislative priorities if elected.

The agenda includes security and crime eradication; youth employment and empowerment; quality education and skills development; improved healthcare; infrastructure and environmental renewal; women inclusion and support for vulnerable groups; and effective representation and accountability.

Mulade assured Pere Monbene III that the interests and development of Warri Federal Constituency would receive priority attention under his proposed legislative agenda.

The visit attracted elders, youths and women from the kingdom, with prayers offered for the success of Mulade’s political ambition.

The engagement is part of the NDP candidate’s ongoing consultations with traditional institutions and stakeholders across Warri Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
