Warri Federal Constituency 2027: Olu of Warri Blesses Mulade’s Ambition, NDP Candidate Unveils Development Agenda for Warri

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, has blessed the 2027 House of Representatives ambition of the National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate for Warri Federal Constituency, Chief Sheriff B. Mulade, as the frontline candidate unveiled plans to pursue major economic and infrastructure projects in the constituency.

Mulade, the Ibesorimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom and United Nations Peace Ambassador, visited the Olu of Warri to formally inform the monarch of his aspiration to represent the people of Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly and seek his royal blessings.

At the meeting, Mulade placed economic development, infrastructure revival and peaceful coexistence among the major pillars of his proposed agenda for the constituency.

He specifically pledged to pursue the revival and completion of the abandoned Escravos Free Trade Zone project, saying its completion could provide opportunities for investment, employment and economic growth in the area.

He also promised to work towards the resuscitation of the Koko Seaport, which he described as a strategic economic asset capable of contributing significantly to the development of the constituency.

The NDP candidate further identified the promotion of unity and peaceful coexistence among the Ijaw, Urhobo and Itsekiri as a key component of his 7-Point Agenda.

According to him, Warri’s enormous natural resources and economic potential can only be fully harnessed in an atmosphere of peace, unity and cooperation.

“I have the quality, competence and capacity to represent the people of Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives through purpose-driven representation that would bring in the much-needed overall development of the area,” Mulade said.

He appealed to the electorate, particularly the Itsekiri people across Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas, to support his aspiration, assuring that he would not disappoint them if given the mandate in 2027.

Explaining why he chose to begin his political consultations with the Olu of Warri, Mulade said the monarch’s position and counsel were important to his aspiration.

“I decided to consult the Monarch first before embarking on my campaigns. I am extremely grateful for giving us the opportunity at short notice to visit,” he said.

Mulade commended Ogiame Atuwatse III for his role in sustaining peace in Warri Kingdom.

“You have used your position to build existing peace in Warri,” he told the monarch.

He added: “Warri is endowed with abundant natural resources that need to be tapped adequately for the overall benefit of us all, but animosity and lack of unity have held us back.

“With my 7-Point Agenda, we shall work assiduously to build more on and sustain the existing peace with a view to move the area to much greater heights.”

Mulade also highlighted his previous involvement in initiatives aimed at bringing the different ethnic groups together, stressing that his upbringing in Warri had strengthened his commitment to the development of the area.

“I have been involved in programmes that bring the ethnic groups together. For a young boy that grew up in Warri, I am out to move Warri forward. I am here to seek your blessings for the position,” he said.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Mulade said he would continue to engage traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and residents across the constituency as part of his consultations ahead of the 2027 elections.

Responding, the Olu of Warri, who was accompanied by members of his Council of Chiefs, described Mulade as qualified and capable of representing the people of Warri Federal Constituency.

The monarch also described him as a detribalised Deltan with a record of promoting peace and unity in Warri, particularly through initiatives such as football tournaments that bring people from different communities together.

The Olu subsequently prayed for Mulade and his entourage and asked God to provide the resources necessary for the candidate to pursue his political ambition.

The engagement comes as Mulade begins wider consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, with his proposed agenda focusing on economic revitalisation, infrastructure development, peace-building, unity, youth engagement and stronger representation for Warri Federal Constituency.
