Oborevwori, Pondi, others sue for Peace among Delta ethnic communities as Ogbe-Ijoh monarch draws curtain on 10th Coronation  Anniversary

The Governor of Delta State, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), High Chief Kestin Pondi, among other prominent personalities, have made renewed appeal to the three ethnic nationalities in Warri Federal Constituency of Delta State to ensure peaceful coexistence among themselves "to guarantee socioeconomic development of the area".

They made the appeal on Friday during the grand finale of the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Couple Mackson Oromoni, Monbene III, at the coastal community of Ogbe-ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

In his address at the occasion, Governor Oborevwori, represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, congratulated the Ogbe-Ijoh monarch while also commending him "for promoting peace, unity and cooperation within the Kingdom and its neighbours in the Warri Federal Constituency".

"Over the decades, HRM Monbene III, the Pere-Ama Okosu of the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom has demonstrated exceptional leadership", the Governor noted. 

He spoke further, "We take pride in the prevailing unity and peace within this Kingdom and your neighbours. 

"Let me sincerely appeal to Ijaws, Urhobos and Itsekiris in the Warri Federal constituency. All in Ogbe-ijoh Warri Kingdom should continue to maintain unity peace and cooperation as you strive for more progress, enhanced peace and security. 

"We look forward to many years of peace and prosperity in Warri".

Speaking in the same vein, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Pondi, reiterated the imperative of peace in Delta saying "we have not recovered from the previous Warri crisis". 

Pondi continued, "I don't think we will be able to survive another crisis, and so, I want to appeal that, no matter the provocation, we should be able to explore peaceful means to settle or resolve the provocation. Let's not resort to violence.

"Whatever happens today, all the efforts that have been put together to make Warri habitable today, will be efforts in futility".

Also, the Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, Hon. Sylvia Oromoni highlighted "the needs of the local government which include healthcare facilities and others", just as he commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the ongoing projects in the LGA and the State at large.

Other speakers at the event included Urhobo and Ijaw traditional rulers; the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro; the Executive Director, Social Services, DESOPADEC, Chief Favour Izoukumor; Captains of industries and other dignitaries from all works of life who had come to felicitate the Pere Ama- Okosu of Ogbe Ijoh Kingdom.

In his welcome speech, the celebrant, who ascended the ancient throne of his forefathers on the 20th of September, 2015 thanked God for His benevolence upon his life, family and subjects in the past ten years.

The royal father, whose address was read by the Fiyewei (Spokesperson) of Ogbe-ljoh Kingdom, Chief Favour Izoukumor, expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori "for his love, unbroken relationship and prompt response to ensuring peace and providing adequate security for lives and properties in the kingdom housing the ijaws, Urhobos and Itsekiris and bringing them to a common ground for peace and unity at all times".

The monarch equally expressed gratitude to members of the State Council of traditional rulers, Chiefs and other royal fathers from across the nation who came to celebrate with him on this auspicious occasion, praying God to reward them with peaceful reigns in their various Kingdoms.

The week long historic occasion which commenced on Monday, 22 September 2025 was filled with refreshing activities, including chieftaincy title conferments, masquerade displays, live music performances, and rich cultural showcases of the Ijaw people in Nigeria.
