Warri Peace Community Support Initiative Launched to Foster Harmony Among Ethnic Groups in Delta

 In a proactive move to de-escalate tensions among the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo ethnic groups in the Warri Federal Constituency, the Warri Peace Community Support Initiative was officially engaged security operative on Wednesday, to inform them of the activities and programmes put in place by the stakeholders platform to ensure sustainable peace in the Warri federal constituency.

The initiative, spearheaded by prominent peace advocate and community leaders including Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, Hon. Emmanuel Adun, and Hon. Eboh Okpako Elvis, seeks to promote lasting peace and collaboration among the diverse communities in the Warri Federal Constituency, Delta State.

The initiative brought together representatives from various ethnic groups, to, collaborate with security agencies as they amplify their commitment to foster peaceful coexistence. 

The initiative comes in response to recent ethnic tensions that have occasionally erupted into violence, threatening the stability and development of the area.

Chief Mulade Sheriff, a key figure in the initiative, emphasized the importance of dialogue and understanding among the communities. 

"The Warri Peace Community Support Initiative is about peaceful coexistence irrespective of the ethnic backgrounds," he stated.

Hon. Emmanuel Adun echoed these sentiments, highlighting the role of security agencies in the peace process. "We are here to collaborate with our security forces to ensure that peace is achieved. Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels safe and valued," he said.

The initiative aims to implement a series of community engagement programs, including peace-building workshops, cultural exchange events, and conflict resolution talks.

 These initiatives especially the town hall meetings are designed to foster mutual respect and understanding among the Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo people, encouraging them to work together towards common goals.

Hon. Eboh Okpako Elvis expressed optimism about the initiative's potential impact. "This is a historic moment for Warri. By coming together as one community, we can address the root causes of our conflicts and pave the way for sustainable development".

The Warri Peace Community Support Initiative has garnered support from various security operatives and stakeholders, including NGOs and community leaders, who are eager to contribute to the peace-building efforts.
