Youth Leader, Mamamu Calls on NSA, to Wade in as Fresh Itsekiri, Ijaw Criss brews, Condemns Police Involvement

The National President of the Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC), Comrade Bene Youkore Mamamu, has called on Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as all security agencies across the country to, as a matter of urgency, "wade in to avert the festering of a brewing crisis between the Itsekiri and Ijaw communities in Warri, Delta State".

Mamamu made the calls in a signed statement issued on Wednesday on the heels of Itsekiri youths masterminded of removal of the banners placed around Warri metropolis showcasing the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the monarch of Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri Kingdom, HRM Couple Mackson Oromoni, Monbene III.

"It is totally unacceptable that security operatives have stooped so low as to be used as tools in an ethnic crisis," Mamamu stated. "The police are meant to protect lives and properties, not to become pawns in the hands of any group. This behavior undermines the very essence of their duty and erodes public trust in law enforcement."

The videos circulating on social media have sparked outrage among Ijaws in the area who view the police actions as a blatant disregard for their rights and a violation of the principles of neutrality that law enforcement should uphold, calling for a thorough investigation into the conduct of the officers involved.

In light of these events, Mamamu has urged the Delta State Police Command to take immediate action to address the situation. "The Delta State police command must investigate this incident and ensure that such actions are not repeated in the future. It is crucial for the police to remain impartial and to serve all communities equally, without bias or favoritism,"
