A prominent Ijaw youth leader and former freedom fighter, Chief Comrade Frank Akiefa, has commended the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, for what he described as visionary leadership that has significantly expanded the benefits and opportunities available to beneficiaries of the programme.
In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, Akiefa expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Otuaro’s commitment to strengthening the objectives of the PAP in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. According to him, the current administration of the programme has introduced reforms that are yielding tangible results across the Niger Delta.
“Dr. Dennis Otuaro’s exceptional leadership and unwavering support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda have resulted in expanded opportunities for beneficiaries, including access to foreign training, scholarships, increased inclusion, and improved welfare for ex-agitators and impacted communities,” Akiefa said.
He noted that these interventions have not only enhanced human capital development but have also helped to restore confidence in the programme among stakeholders in the region. He added that the renewed focus on empowerment and capacity-building is gradually translating into sustainable livelihoods for many beneficiaries.
Akiefa further stressed that Otuaro’s leadership is playing a critical role in fostering lasting peace and stability in the Niger Delta, a region that has long been plagued by agitation and underdevelopment despite its strategic importance to Nigeria’s economy.
“Thanks to the support of President Bola Tinubu, Dr. Otuaro has brought a new wave of transformative development to the Niger Delta. His approach to governance within the PAP is inclusive, people-centred, and result-driven,” he stated.
He therefore called on stakeholders, community leaders, and beneficiaries of the Amnesty Programme to continue to support the current leadership of the PAP, stressing that sustained cooperation is essential to consolidating the gains already recorded and ensuring long-term development in the Niger Delta.
