Boro Day: Otuaro Urge Ijaws to Build Courage, Expect Another Niger-Delta Hero

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Otuaro has called upon the people of Ijaw nation to embody the courage and resilience exemplified by the late Isaac Boro, a revered hero in the struggle for resource control in the Niger Delta.

Otuaro made the statement In Warri Delta State, while paying tribute to the memory of the hero and icon of the Niger Delta, the Late Isaac Boro, on the occasion of the 2025 Boro Day celebration by members of the Ijaw Youth Council, (IYC).

Dignitaries, community leaders, and youth representatives, all gathered under the platform of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) to honor Boro's legacy at Tunde Smooth playground in Warri while Otuaro emphasized the importance of adopting an intellectual approach to the ongoing fight for resource control.

"Boro lives on in our hearts as a father and national hero. His spirit inspires us to cultivate courage and embrace an intellectual approach in our quest for resource control. Let us remember that heroes like Boro can rise again, igniting the flame of change for generations to come."

He urged the youths to support lasting peace in the Niger-Delta region and across Nigeria adding that peace remains a paramount means for sustainable development. 

He added that, "The amnesty program serves as a vital tool in this endeavor, providing a platform for dialogue. We are committed to listening to genuine grievances and are actively expanding the programme to include more individuals.
