Delta 2023: Gbagi Protests Okowa's Anti-Democratic Election, Threat to Life, To Boycott PDP Primary
Leading governorship aspirant of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi has protested what ihe described as anti-democratic conduct of the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who exhibited actions capable of consuming the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
This was contained in a protest letter addressed to the National Chairman of PDP, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu through the State Chairman of the Party, Bar. Kingsley Esiso titled; "Threat to Life, Anti-democratic conduct by his Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor, Delta at Government House Asaba 21/5/2022".
It contained that, "Delegates to the Peoples Democratic Party Primaries elections were invited by the Governor on Saturday, 21 of May 2023 for what was tagged as a party meeting"
"Inline with the electoral act 2022 in force, Gbagi emerged as an adhoc delegate from his ward in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State"
On arrival at the Government House, Asaba the venue of the meeting, Gbagi was accosted by the chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Ovie Agas that he was requested by his Excellency to stop him(Gbagi) from entering the meeting.
This medium understands that, it Is no longer news that the PDP Delta State Chapter, has been grappling with self inflicted problems of imposition of a governorship aspirant with questionable credentials that could lead to a major destructive implosion.
There are numerous vexed issues bordering on the obvious preelection misdeeds, illegalties and manipulation of adhoc delegate with possible intent of hijacking the State party structure and majority of PDP members have booked their flight to move out of the party.
Gbagi Stated that taking Deltans for granted by subverting their wish and aspiration with a blatant concoctment and pre-cooked numbers just to persify him with few votes and declare his pre-elected aspirant winer is the height of impunity that must be resisted.
Gbagi however, assured Deltans that he is strongly in the governorship race no matter the manipulations.
