Delta Monarch, HRM Oweiagbe, Gov Oborewori not barred in Opromor Kingdom, Residents Urged to Disregard 'Frivolous Petition'

The Ebenana-owei of Operemor Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, His Majesty Ekio-emi Oweiagbe John, has urged the State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborewori to ignore what he tagged frivolous petitions by some mischief-makers in the kingdom said to be led by one Egiren Newstyle.

The call was contained in a statement issued by the director of media to the traditional ruler, Comrade Ndoni Timipre, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Pere Ekio-emi Oweiagbe is more focused on partnering with the State Government to attract meaningful development and empowerment programs to the kingdom "rather than dignifying a mediocre with his precious time".

FocalPoint Reports gathered that the call from King Ekio-emi Oweiagbe was coming on the heels of his emergence as the new monarch of Operemor Kingdom following the hot contest for the vacant stool, with Mr. Egiren as one of the contestants who lost out to King Ekio-emi Oweiagbe in the race.

The monarch accused Egiren of allegedly sponsoring media condemnation of the State Government for rightfully performing its statutory role in his coronation.

According to the monarch, Egiren's purportedly sponsored publication that "Delta State Government is statute barred from having dealings with the elected King Oweiagbe", is ill-conceived.

In the signed statement, Pere Ekioemi Oweiagbe insisted that he (monarch) is more focused on working with the state government to attract meaningful development and empowerment programs to the kingdom "rather than dignifying a mediocre with his precious time".

The statement read partly,  “The frivolous petition written and forwarded to the State Governor, His Excellency, Sheriff Oborewori by Mr. Egiren demanding the removal of the revered monarch from the State Government constituted Subsidy Palliative Distribution Committee in Burutu, has further revealed the myopic reasoning of a man whose thinking is selfish ignorant and alienated from good.

"Newstyle who also contested the Operemor Kingship Stool but lost to the successor, HRM King (Dr) Ekioemi Oweiagbe John, Gbesa 1, Ebenanaowei of Operemor Kingdom, would have considered joining hands with the rightfully elected king to develop the kingdom and it's communities as a supposed subject in the kingdom.

"However, Egiren has decided to toe the path of dishonor and reproach, even going as far as procuring a 'black market' court order to restrain the State Government from having dealings with the rightful king,

“To us, this is a misdemeanor taken too far, it was obvious that Egiren has constituted himself as an enemy of the kingdom as the state government just to force himself on people who do not want him, it was bad enough for him to have conjured what does not emanate from the Court of law to mislead the general public as part of his scheme to get cheap popularity.

"To correct Egiren's lies, the said order of the Court only stopped some financial benefits  due to the monarch from the State Government, pending the determination of the suit in question, this particular order has nothing to do with the traditional functions of the monarch which remain recognized”.
