Delta Ward Delineation: Mamamu seeks INEC's Correction of exercise in Warri-South West Ogbe-Ijoh
By Ezekiel Kagbala
A political leader from Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom in Delta State has joined forces with other prominent leaders in the region to kick against alleged manipulation of Ogbe-Ijoh wards by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He has sought for immediate correction to the field report on the delineation exercise in the area "to ensure fair representation of Ogbe-ljoh Warri South-West Local Government Area in Warri Federal Constituency".
Mamamu, in a statement made available to journalists in Warri on Tuesday, raised serious concerns regarding the INEC fieldwork in Ogbe-ljoh, Warri Kingdom emphasizing that "the Commission's efforts do not align with the Supreme Court's directive for a fresh delineation of electoral boundaries".
He specifically pointed out that "Ogbe-ljoh is the most populous Kingdom in Warri-South-West Local Government Area, Delta State and was not been accurately represented in the delineation Field work".
He asserted that the discrepancies in the fieldwork could undermine the integrity of future elections in the area, and called for "immediate corrective measures to ensure compliance with the Court's order on fresh delineation of the Warri Federal Constituency".
Mamamu's statement partly reads, "INEC must correct its delineation report and immediately restore Odidi 1 and 2, Egwa 2, Salvation city in Beneth Island, Sourama and other communities which were not captured under Ogbe-ljoh Warri South-West LGA.
"INEC should act properly in their reviews and effect the necessary corrections to avoid unnecessary delays in finalizing the deleanition of Warri Federal Constituency".
