OML 42 Youths Presents Training Proposal to Oil, Gas Commissioner, Maritime Skill for Delta Youths

Youths in Oil Mining Licence, OML42 in Delta State have approached the Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode to seek his ministry's support for their proposed skill acquisition program.

The Chairman of OML-42 Youth Forum Comrade Bakawei Mamamu led Warri South-West youth leaders on Saturday, February 17th, 2024, on a visit to the commissioner at Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli South local government Area to present a training framework to him.

Bakawei said, "We seek to partner with Oil Companies and the state government for the empowerment of over 120 persons in various skills. The purpose of the initiative is to create opportunities for the youths to be self-reliant, we seek your support for the success of this
 initiative"

Bakawei also called for State Government participation to ensure the smooth implementation of the PIA as nothing much has been achieved on PIA in OML 42.

The commissioner commended the youth leaders and recommended that maritime skills should be included in the list that was compiled by the training consultant. He also called on the youths to acquire maritime skills for them to secure employment and thus contribute to the growth of the state.

He urged youths in the states to key into millions of job opportunities existing in the maritime sector of the nation’s economy adding that there is high demand for mariners and promised to reach out to companies operating in the region to support the program.

He Said; "The truth of the matter is that my office plays a mediation role mostly, my office is not awarding contract or penalty, However, the companies in your place will be encouraged to support this program". 

The commissioner However, promised to reach out to operators of the assets to support the training initiative.
