Ovation as NBTE accredits more courses for Global Maritime Academy

It was ovation at the Global Maritime Academy (GMA), a popular maritime training institution based in Agbowhiame, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State last weekend as the Academy secured the full accreditation of the Federal Government through the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE).

The significant milestone was announced by the Founder and President of Global Maritime Academy, Mr. Ejiro Dennis Onakughotor, FOSHA in a personally signed press statement, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri on Monday.

While breaking the news to the jubilant staff and students, Onakughotor disclosed that the Departments accredited for the institution comprised Computer Science, Maritime Transportation and Business Studies.

The statement further disclosed that in the meantime, the institution has rejiged its administrative and management personnel with the appointments of a new Rector, Mr. Ofurumazi Righteousness just as Mrs. Monica Taribo was also named the  new Registrar.

"The appointments take effect from 2nd January 2025", the statement explained.

Also, the statement announced the completion of the Administrative buildings and additional structures aimed at further improving learning and proper administration and management in the institution. 

The statement partly reads, "I sincerely congratulate and wish the new appointees a successful tenure as they resume their new offices and responsibilities.

"I also wish to congratulate all staff and students of GMA for the approval of the following new courses: Accountancy and Business Administration and also the full accreditation of Computer Science and Maritime Transport and Business Studies by
the Federal Government through NBTE on the 9th December 2024.

"With this development,
 the institute is now strategically ready to assist the Federal Government in growing and contributing to the development of the maritime sector
in Nigeria.

"We are working assiduously to make a difference in the maritime industry, and produce manpower for the maritime industry, Once again I congratulate the new appointees and wish GMA greater achievements in the years to come".
