Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, front line leading Governorship Aspirant Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi and Host of people's Democratic Party leaders in Delta State, today Saturday recieved and welcomed those who decamped into the Party in Delta State.

In a mega rally at the state capital, Asaba, former Chairman of All Progressive Congress, Mr Cyril Ogodo; immediate past Publicity Secretary, APC, Sylvester Imonina; Delta Central leader and elders council of APC led by Chief Sylvester Kowho; Ovie Omo-Agege Solidarity Movement; amongst were recieved into the People’s Democratic Party.

Rpeceiving the decampees at the PDP mega rally on Saturday in Asaba, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State assured teaming supporters of PDP and party chieftain that there would be free and fair primary to decide the party governorship flag bearer.

He cautioned all those aspiring for various positions to control themselves and their followers.

He said, “We are family, we cannot fight. There will be a free and fair primary and so there will be no room for fight.

“Let us work together to ensure that PDP remains on top. Today, I welcome our brothers who have joined PDP and I assure you that we are all one.

“This rally has made a statement that PDP is prepared and united for 2023 elections and we will continue to work with love as one family unlike other parties where they fight.”

The State Chairman of PDP, Kingsley Esiso, said that the essence of the rally was to reduce the position of APC in the state by 90 per cent.

“APC is a failed party, it brought us hardship and negative change which has made Nigeria to become the capital of poverty in the world.

“PDP is Delta and Delta is PDP and we will continue to harvest APC members in the state and we have leaders of APC that have decided to join PDP today” he said.

Among those who spoke at the rally include former governor James Ibori; Senator James Manager; and Minority leader House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, who called for greater unity and solidarity in the party, assuring that PDP remained the only party that can rescue Nigeria in its present challenge.

Recall that before the Delta PDP Mega rally, in Asaba,
The Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District in the National Assembly (NASS), Senator James Manager and the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor,  kicked against zoning the 2023 governorship election to Delta Central Senatorial District.

The duo on Friday January 21st 2022, made their position know after the State Chairman of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Kingsley Esiso, moved a motion during the party's Caucus meeting for the governorship to be zoned to Delta Central Senatorial District of the state.

According to a post on WhatsApp platforms by one Collins Uduaghan, the motion by the party chairman, got the favour of the member representing Aniocha/Oshimili federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Ndudi Elumelu and Senator Stella Omu, who threw their weights behind the motion.

"The party Chairman Kingsley Esiso move a motion for the zoning of the Governorship to Delta Central and he was supported by Sen. Stella Omu and Hon. Ndudi Elumelu while Sen. James Manager and Edwin Uzor opposed zoning it to Delta Central".

Although, one of the issues that has caused anxiety among Deltans on who take over from the incumbent, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was not discussed in the caucus meeting.

"The issue of who will succeed Okowa come 2023 never came up and was never in the agenda of the meeting.

"And on that ground the meeting was adjourned and no decision was reached until the next caucus".

"At the enlarge "Caucus" of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) held last night at the Government House Asaba, the only issue that was deliberated upon was the issue of "Zoning" of the Governorship to Delta Central.

"So please disregard any news, rumour and propaganda going round that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa confronted our National Leader H.E Chief James Ibori saying "You picked your successor, allow me pick my own successor.

"The Governor Okowa we know is very careful with his words and will never make such careless comments and he never made such comments.

"Those who are bent seeing that they destroy the aged long brotherly love between our National Leader Chief James Ibori and Governor Okowa are the ones spreading falsehood.

"No man is God and nobody can play God".
