Call Your Commissioner for Transport, Agofure to Order, Group Begs Oborevwori

accuse Him of Gross Misconduct

An Intergrity group known as Crusade for Democracy and Good Governance (CDGG) yesterday strongly appealed to Governor Sherrif Oborevwori to quickly call his Commissioner for Transport, Onoriode Agofure, to order before he drags his (Governor) name to the mud because of selfish interest.

In a statement signed by the Director of Communication, Emmanuel Ughojor and made available to Journalists, the group strongly accused the Commissioner, of gross misconduct in the re-awarding of contract under the Directorate of Transport, to a company that does not have the software to drive the scheme as required by law.

The statement reads in parts; "As an Integrity group, we follow the activities of ministries and other agencies in the state and ensure that any one that is not doing the right thing is brought to book."

"And to this end; we have followed the activities of the commissioner for transport, Onoriode Agofure over time and his activities in the Directorate of Transport; and we have discovered that the commissioner is messing up the directorate. He doesn't follow due process in running the directorate and awarding contract."

"He allegedly took the work schedule of other departments in the directorate and gave it to his cousin with impunity by undermining the civil service rules and ethics."

"He introduced Private Park Owners Association and allegedly imposed the manager of his father's company (Agofure Motors) as their chairman in Delta State."

The statement further read; "Because he wants his father to run the transport scheme in the state until now he has been unable to come out with a laudable blue print to present to His Excellency. He frustrated other transport companies that have submitted proposals for the scheme"

"For instance, the the commissioner, gave the Delta State Data management on transport to a company that doesn't have the software to drive the scheme as required by the law.

The group accused the Commissioner for given out existing contract to his cronies without minding the pending MoU that is still running, adding that, the commissioner went further to give the job to two companies to do the same functions which causes conflict when the first company's tenure/contract has not elapsed.

The group further accused the Commissioner, for given the Data management job to a company that did not do presentations, thereby lacks the experience and capacity to do the job effectively.

"We hereby strongly appealed to His Excellency, Governor Sherrif Oborevwori to look into the activities of the commissioner and help to correct the abnormalities in order for his government and personality which he has built over the years, not to be dragged into the mud by a selfish individual who couldn't win his own election talk less of delivering his local government for the party (PDP)."

"We also which to state that as an integrity group, part of our aims and objective is to monitor the activities of ministries and agencies in the state; and ensure that the right things are done in promoting transparency and accountability in the state". The Intergrity group noted.

It could be recalled that the commissioner Father's company (Agofure Motors) took the Delta state government to court sometimes ago when the 'data management on transport' scheme was first launched in 2020 in suit number SUIT NO. EHC/91/2021, the court then placed an injunction on the scheme concerning Agofure Motors operations in the state.

The commissioner father's company did not participate in the scheme despite the fact that Agofure Motors have benefited more from the Delta State government than any other private transport  companies in the state.
