Mulade’s Quiz, Essay Competition Rewards Students, Promotes Education in Delta

The 9th edition of the Sheriff Mulade Quiz and Essay Competition has ended with outstanding performances from students across Delta South Senatorial District, as winners went home with cash prizes and scholarship promises.

The competition, organized by peace and environmental advocate Comrade Sheriff Mulade, brought together secondary school students to test their knowledge and writing skills in both quiz and essay categories.

In the junior quiz category, Odo-Okun Secondary School emerged first, winning ₦250,000. Otibio Grammar School came second with ₦200,000, while Ogulagha Secondary School took third place and received ₦150,000. 

The quiz covered subjects such as English Studies, Mathematics, CRS, Prevocational Studies, and Basic Science.

In the senior category, which focused on essay writing on the topic “Peace and Conflict Resolution: The Impact on Education,” Okpe Isoko Grammar School won first place and received ₦150,000.

Egbokodo Secondary School came second with ₦100,000, while Kokodiagbene Secondary School finished third and got ₦75,000.

Other participating schools included Irri Grammar School, Ramos Creek Secondary School, Uduophori Secondary School, and Ogbe Ijoh Grammar School.

Speaking at the event, Sheriff Mulade said the competition is aimed at encouraging academic excellence, critical thinking, and self-confidence among students. 

He added that the programme has continued to grow and remains a strong platform for youth development.

He also promised to award scholarships to the winners to support them in completing their secondary school education.

Teachers and school leaders praised the initiative, describing it as an important contribution to education in Delta State and calling for its expansion to reach more students in the future.
