The governor's aide Akiefa in a statement he signed, during the weekend in Warri, copies of which were made available to newsmen, dispel the defection rumor as mere insinuations from the opposition to mislead Deltans and attract undue attention.
Akiefa, who is a stalwart of the PDP in Burutu Local government area of Delta State, said, "The recurring rumor of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's Defection was orchestrated by mischief makers to cause dis-affection among staunch PDP supporters. Hence, I saw the need as one of the governor’s appointees to issue a clarification and reaffirm the Governor's commitment to the party.

The fake story that Oborevwori was planning Defection is laughable, unreasonable, and diversionary. APC and its network of mischief makers are fabricators of falsehood and propaganda aimed at misleading the public about Governor Oborevwori's allegiance and commitment to the PDP.
He specifically condemned the speculation, reaffirming Governor Oborevwori's steadfast dedication to serving the people of Delta State under the PDP, the platform through which he earned the people mandate, and that he has not contemplated leaving the party for any other one.
