OML 42 Youth Forum Initiates  Skill Acquisition Training, Visits DESOPADEC, Oil Companies in Delta 


Without a doubt, the lives of the residents of oil-rich Host communities to Oil Mining License (OML) 42 in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, will improve positively as the youths initiate self development programmes on skills Acquisition.

As parts of activities to commence the training programme, Chairman of Oml 42 Youth Forum, Comrade Mamamu Bakkawei led OML 42 Youth leaders to brief the The Commissioner representing the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Board of the Delta state Oil producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon. Okpoye Okubo Spencer to solicit for the commission's support.


He told the Ijaw Ethnic Rep. the problems they have identified and that training and retraining of youths in various skills will reduce the menace of drug abuse, oil theft, pipeline vandalism, Youths restiveness amongst other vices.

Earlier, Mamamu Bakkawei has disclosed that Youth, women across OML 42( Odidi ,batan, jonecreek, egwa field) communities will be trained on Welding and fabrication.
Furniture making & woodwork.
Catering & confectionary. Fish farming, Food processing, Modern printing technology, Fashion design & tailoring, Computer technology/programming and alot more.

He added that people of OML 42 communities are ready to embrace skills and self sustaining handworks if they are empowered to undego the training to be initiated. He appealed to OML 42 contractors, DESOPADEC and stakeholders to finance the project.

The commissioner while commending the youths for initiating such programme said; "We will try our best to see that programmes that benefits our people are encouraged.  I am happy and want to encourage you do more. I Will ensure that more other programmes are initiated, I will encourage and support you to achieve it".
