BREAKING: Odidi Women Storm Heritage Energy Office, Demand Action on Oil Spill

WARRI, DELTA STATE — Heavy protest has erupted in Warri as women from oil-rich Odidi Community, Warri South-West LGA, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, stormed the Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL) office at Edjeba over a crude oil spill they say has polluted their rivers, creeks and fishing grounds for about six months.

The protesters, armed with placards, accused Heritage Energy of allowing the pollution to persist while crude oil operations continue.

They said the spill was traced to an aged and corroded section of the Trans-Forcados Pipeline around the Keremor Manifold, demanding immediate containment, clean-up and remediation.

One of the placards read: “NNPCL, Act on the Oil Spill in Odidi Now. Federal Government Should Revoke Heritage Licence.”

The women also called on the Federal Government, NNPCL and environmental regulators to urgently intervene, investigate the prolonged spill and protect the community from further environmental and economic damage.

The protest is ongoing at the Heritage Energy office in Edjeba, Warri.
