CHRPC Condemns Killing Of Passengers In Uwvie, Calls For investigation

By Ezekiel Kagbala FPR

Center for Human Rights and Public Complaints, CHRPC, has condemned the alleged killing of two innocent Persons at Ugbolokposo, Uwvie Local Government Area of Delta State while calling for immediate investigation into the matter by the Delta State Police Command

The group In a statement signed by its  state Chairman, Comrade Ejiro-steve Unukpo said "We condemn the killing of those innocent passengers, this is barbarism, and gross disrespect for human lives. I visited the crime scene where two lifeless bodies lay helplessly on Tuesday 12, July 2022,

"'An eye witness who spoke under anonymity  alleged that; The commercial tricycle (keke Napep) operator was trying to overtake a black Jeep and mistakenly scratched the vehicle. Then a fully armed policeman came down from the black jeep to attack the tricycle operator, and out of fear all the passengers ran for their lives.

"The policeman allegedly chased after them and shot two out of the three passengers and left a serious gunshot wound on the tricycle operator who's now battling for his life.

" Even a State Governor will not order the killing of armless innocent citizens for any reason, let alone an individual because he could afford escort. we see no justification for such senseless killing, if not addressed, such killing could degenerate into indiscriminate killing by those who want to intimidate the ordinary citizens in the future.

" We are calling on the Delta State Police Command to investigate and prosecute the killer who was reported to be escorting a yet to be identified fellow in a black Toyota Prado Jeep with a covered plate number. They have to unearth the person that was being escorted and the killer arrested to face Justice."
