From all indications, Efe Edema, a silent achiever and noticeably vibrant female politician in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, is out to cut a niche for herself as one of the best and brightest women politicians within the ranks of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sapele locality.
As one of the frontline Chairmanship aspirants in Sapele Local Government Area during the recently conducted Council elections in Delta, needless repeating the obvious that Efe Edema succeeded in proving her worth. She manifestly showed the world that as far as the Sapele polity is concerned, she is neither a neophyte nor a pushover whatsoever.
Critical stakeholders saw Efe Edema as not just one of the female charismatic politicians, but someone who is patriotic, reliable and worthy of public office not for personal aggrandizement but out of concern for the overall welfare of the masses. Observers are of the consensus that Efe Edema is really drenched in truth and honesty and is completely trustworthy.
A party leader in Sapele in an affirmation to a key characteristic of this woman politician described her as "a very dedicated PDP faithful without reservations". "Whenever she stands for any political activity, she stands out exceptionally", the party leader who would not want his name in print added.
Efe Edema, as a teacher, author and politician combined, has steadily grown to become a fearless mobilizer who always stands for the truth.
As a party activist, she has, to date, been fighting for justice, equity and fairness as she gives her energy, passion and resources in the pursuit of the growth of the PDP in Sapele Local Government Area and environs as manifested in her firmly rooted structure in the locality.
As an Amazon with extraordinary intellectual capacity for leadership and national service, Efe Edema contributed immensely to the emergence of Governor Sheriff Obovrevwori in the 2023 election in Delta.
She strengthened the Party at the grassroots in the build-up to the 2023 general elections in line with the mission to rescue, rebuild, and redirect the nation from misgovernance.
Her tireless contributions alongside other PDP leaders in Sapele won the admiration of prominent leaders of the party within and outside the State who propelled her coming out publicly to aspire for the Council Chairmanship.
She would have emerged as the Sapele Council boss. She, however, submitted to the Party supremacy to support and work with the party's line of choice, trusting that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori would eventually remember her for her dedication and contributions to the PDP and the Governor's MORE Agenda.
She strongly believes and trusts Governor Oborevwori as a leader who ensures balanced political participation between men and women in politics.
At this juncture, it is instructive to note that Efe Edema's shot into politics came from the background of advocacy for women’s rights of leadership, participation in promoting good governance and philanthropy and paving the way for more inclusive and dynamic leadership for women in Sapele and environs.
Her inclusion in the scheme of things in Delta State will surely result in more tangible gains for democracy, including greater responsiveness to Sapele women's needs and increased cooperation from the women in preparation for 2027.
