World Environment Day: NSE Nominates Tantita Security, Pondi, Tonlagha, Agediga, Others for Excellence Award

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Warri Branch, has nominated the Federal Government contracted private pipeline security surveillance outfit, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited; its Managing Director, Engr. High Chief Kestin Pondi, FNSE; the renowned oil and gas mogul, Mr. Matthew Tonlagha as well as Hon. Shedrack Agediga, among others, for the prestigious Environmental Excellence Award, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to environmental sustainability in the country.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Warri Branch Chairman of NSE, Engr. Chief Benjamin Esi, FNSE, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State on Friday.

The statement noted that "this nomination aligns with the celebration of World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5th to promote environmental protection and sustainable development".

"The occasion honours individuals and organizations making significant strides in reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable practices", it added.

According to the statement, "the Environmental Pollution and Environmental Impact Monitoring Committee (EPEIMC) of the NSE, led by Engr. Queen Uche Chigbo, identified Tantita Security Limited as a worthy recipient as the award will be presented at a public lecture on June 6th at the MOM Civic Centre, Airport Road, Warri".

The NSE specifically extended its congratulations to Engr. High Chief Kestin Pondi, FNSE, Managing Director of Tantita Security Limited, "for his exemplary leadership and dedication to environmental preservation". 

"Under his leadership, the Company has achieved notable reductions in air and water pollution, improved the security of Nigeria’s waterways, and led environmental advocacy campaigns to combat harmful activities".

The NSE further said, "Also being recognized for their exceptional contributions are Mr. Matthew Tonlagha for empowering Nigerian engineers and delivering environmentally sustainable projects that reduce carbon footprints and Hon. Shedrack Agediga, for his unwavering dedication to peace and environmental advocacy , public sensitization and sustainable community development.

"The collective impact of these awardees has led to tangible improvements in environmental quality, increased oil production, and safer waterways in the Niger Delta region".

The organisers of the Environmental Excellence Award of the NSE, Warri Branch invite the public including captains of industries and stakeholders in the engineering field to the Public Lecture/Award Giving Day and Exhibition themed “Ending Plastic Pollution: Addressing the Crisis, Innovating Sustainable Solutions".

The keynote address Speaker at the occasion is Engr. Prof. Godswill Ofualagba MNSE, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun while the Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Jamani Tommy Ejiro and the Chairman, Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac are Special Guests of Honour.
