Agbodobiri Community to Hold 2025 Annual Conference December 27–29 in Delta

The Agbodobiri community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has announced plans to host its 2025 Annual Conference, scheduled to hold from December 27 to 29, 2025.

Leaders of the community have invited sons and daughters of Agbodobiri, both at home and in the diaspora, to participate in the annual gathering, which serves as a major homecoming and reunion for indigenes of the community.

The conference, with the theme “In Thy strength, O God, we come together for our blessings,” will take place at the Ogbolu Civic Centre, Agbodobiri, in the Ogbolubiri Mein Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area.

In a statement signed by Elder Timi Baro and made available to newsmen, the organisers described the annual conference as an important platform for unity, reflection, cultural celebration and collective development of Agbodobiri community.

The Royal Father of the Day is His Royal Majesty, Pere Johnbull Polokowei (Ongolo I), Pere of Ogbolubiri Mein Kingdom. Special Guests of Honour include Engr. Alfred Sagbana (JP), London, and Pa Chief A. A. Youmu, the Amaokosu Osuowei of Agbodobiri.

Activities for Day One, Friday, December 27, will feature the arrival and reception of guests between 12 noon and 3 p.m., followed by a friendly football match between Agbodobiri and Egodor communities from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

The day will also include a candlelight procession to bless the land for peace and prosperity from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as an African Night showcasing folklore, riddles, jokes, free speeches and words of encouragement from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Day Two, Saturday, December 28, will begin with a cross-country walk for health from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., followed by a worship session at Winners Chapel, Agbodobiri, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Youth-focused activities, including canoe racing and swimming competitions, will commence from 1 p.m.

On Day Three, Sunday, December 29, community women will lead an Ogele procession from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by a tug-of-war competition between men and women from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

The general conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., after which the installation of the Amaokosu Owei and Amaokosu Ere will take place from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The day will climax with an all-night post-conference party featuring a live band from 9 p.m. till dawn.

Departure of participants is scheduled for Monday, December 30, from 10 a.m. onwards.

The organisers expressed optimism that the 2025 Annual Conference would further strengthen unity, peace and development within the Agbodobiri community.
