Delta2023: Governorship Not for Ijaws, Former Minister Orubebe Backs Urhobos, Endorses Gbagi
Former Minister of Niger Delta, Elder Peter Godsday Orubebe has endorsed the Frontline Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governorship Aspirant, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi for governor 2023.
Orubebe insisted that the senatorial zoning arrangement in the state is sacrosanct, saying it should be obeyed.
He made the remarks during a consultative visit on Sunday April 3rd, 2022 by Olorogun Gbagi and his team to his country home, Ogbobagbene, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.
Orubebe said: "Delta is in a very bad state, nobody can govern the State better, only you Gbagi can turn it around. I have seen all the aspirants, you are the most qualified, most accepted, we pray that Okowa should do the right thing, there is much to be done to put the state on the right path".
"When I contested in 2015, Ijaws accepted zoning and voted Okowa from Delta North. They said it was not Ijaw's turn. In 2014, I went round the LGA in Delta State and find out that there could be industries in each LGA.
"To achieve that, I contested, at that time my people said it was the turn of Delta North, I agreed. The zoning in Delta stands. It is Urhobo's turn and by the grace of God, Gbagi is the next governor of Delta State".
"When It is the turn of Ijaws, we will prepare our young men and women to take over from you Gbagi".
